A website by Paul Shuman-Moore's family
The family of Paul Shuman-Moore '09 has put up a web site with information about the search and downloadable posters. We will continue to post information relating to the search on this blog, both as the authorities release it and as we uncover things ourselves.

I love the part where his family tells us about Shuman's "social conscious"ness.
It's probably cost Powesheik County a couple of hundred thousand trying to track Shuman down so far. Maybe his uncles can put a check in the mail so all those "ignorant farmers"(as they are referred to by the Grinnell east coast elite) won't have to pay more in property taxes.
Actually, Paul and his family are from Chicago. Furthermore, I don't think any Grinnellians who actually are from the east coast (or anywhere else for that matter) who refer to Iowans as "ignorant farmers." That's just uncalled for.
Also, I think it's reasonable to assume that Paul had some serious emotional or personal issues going on that he needed to deal with. I think it's quite low of you to disparage Paul's character because of the side effects of his problems. Granted, it is expensive to search for a missing person, but it's a pretty dick move to blame that on the missing person themself.
And what's your problem with Paul's uncles? Even if you're going to put responsibility for the finances of the search effort on Paul, why bring his uncles into this? What do they have to do with anything?
Shame on you "anonymous."
You're sick.
what does the "grinnell east coast elite" have to do with a missing student? what exactly are you talking about?
I'm a Poweshiek County resident, not from Grinnell, just a small town nearby. I just want you to know that I or anyone I know, could care less about the money that this is costing our county. That is not an issue. I, like you, just want to know that Paul is safe. I helped search for him right after his disappearance. Of course, I've never met him, but, like you, wonder and worry about him daily.
I continue to watch for Paul and to pray for him.
I would hope that if one of my children were in the same situation, people would do the same for them.
I'm a Grinnellian. I'm from the East Coast. I would not have decided to go to school in Iowa if I thought the state were full of "ignorant farmers." Yes, the east Coast is where I call home, but I do love Iowa very much.
Even apart from anonymous' insensitivities to Paul and his family here, his or her comments are despicable. Calling all east coasters "elitists" is just as bad as if I were to call all Iowans "ignorant farmers". Anonymous, you're the ignorant one.
For paul's family:
forget the comments. forget what people say to you out of the flesh, who do not take the time to step into your shoes and consider your situation for what it is. I am a student from Northside, and all I can say is I'm sorry. And I hope you find peace one day soon. I am thinking about your family, praying for your son, and letting God know that it is His will that shall be done. I pray that you understand that it is all in His will. And even when things seem unfair, God never is. So please just know this...you will see your son again someday.
To the person who criticized Paul's family and Paul - it is like critizing a person with bulemia for wasting food...sometimes actions can't be helped and individuals are driven in ways we can't necessarily understand...but how can you post something so heartless and so unhelpful. Couldn't you instead complain about our current war and administration which has wasted unbelievable amounts of money just to kill and maim in the name of democracy but really out of greed. That is tax money really really wasted. Any thinking person can only feel empathy for Paul and his family and hope they are someday happily reunited. Also, no intelligent individual would make group generalizations about farmers as being ignorant.
I just hope this situation comes to conclusion. I pray the conclusion can be ok. Why someone would bring in their own agendas to a site like this is beyond me. Who ever posted the first comment better hope karma is just superstition.
Wow.
I think the whole Ignorant thing may be right.
